Chair Endowments & Education Scholarships

Recently in the concert arts, it has become common practice to endow specific instrumental chairs in organizations. These endowments are usually structured to supplement organizational needs or pay the salary of the musician occupying the chair.

With the Connecticut Symphonic Band operating as an all volunteer group, chair endowments can now be used for a different purpose: combining chair endowments with education scholarships.

Scholarship chairs are extended to College and High School students who win that right at our annual scholarship auditions. Available chairs vary from season to season, extending from September to August.

Endowments are in the amount of $500 per chair with 100% of the contribution going to the student. Donations for endowment chairs must be received by June 30th of any year to be valid for that September season. Later contributions will take effect either at the first opportunity of chair availability or the following season.

The contributor will be listed in all programs for concerts run by the Connecticut Symphonic Band for that season in both the Roster and contribution sections.

In addition, non-scholarship chair endowments are also accepted in the same amount. These endowments are assigned to the principle chair of each section and are used towards the operating budget for the Connecticut Symphonic Band.
